The aggregate content, measured in terms of a factor depicting the relative proportion of the coarse aggregate in the total amount of aggregate in the mix, has an impact on the load transfer at cracks and joints. A low factor indicates a high proportion of fine aggregate implying higher shrinkage and less load transfer efficiency.
